RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults  - RCIA.
RCIA is the process through which adults (non-Catholic or baptized Catholics) are prepared to receive the
sacraments of the Church.   It is not a "program" of "classes", but a journey of faith based on the working of the
Spirit in an open heart.  We meet on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. in the St.Bernard Rectory.
Those interested in the Catholic faith with an eye towards joining our faith community are invited to
attend.  There is no financial cost or obligation. For more information, contact Dianne at 707-442-8812.

Youth Ministry and Confirmation

"Greetings! And may the peace of Christ be with each of you. It is my pleasure to introduce myself. My name is
Analisa Alegria and I am delighted to serve you this year as your Youth Minister and Confirmation coordinator. I
have a strong passion for working with the youth, especially the youth of our Church. I will be new to the area of
Eureka since I have grown up in the Rohnert Park area all of my life. My family attends St Joseph Church in
Cotati and we have been in attendance there for over thirty five years. I am the youngest of four children, as well
as 2nd generation Mexican American. I have worked with youth of all ages from Preschool to high school and
even college age students. After high school I received my education from the Santa Rosa Junior College and
eventually finished my degree at Franciscan University of Steubenville majoring in Theology and Catechetics. S.
I look forward to getting to know you all and I am excited to be given this opportunity to serve the two parishes of
Sacred Heart and St Bernard's. May God continue to bless each of you and know both parishes are in my
    prayers.
    In Christ,
    Analisa Alegria"

PLEASE NOTE: The Sacrament of Holy Communion may be received as early as the second grade,
and the
Sacrament of Confirmation in the seventh grade. Both Sacraments require proper education,
spiritual formation and life within the Church. Thus,
a two year preparation period is recommended
by the Diocese.
An Adult Faith Formation and Certification series is being offered through the Santa Rosa
Diocesan Office at St.Bernard Catholic School in Eureka. This series is designed for our
Catechists, Teachers and Principals, although others may attend.

"T
o all parishioners of St. Bernard's and Sacred Heart, parishes of Eureka, may God's blessings be upon
you.  My name is Melanie Broswick. Recently Father Tom asked me to think about taking on the role of
Religious Ed. Coordinator for the parish children entering grades 1-6 for this upcoming 2016-2017 year.
After many prayers to discern the will of God, I have humbly accepted this special calling.
I have lived in Eureka for just over a year now, after moving from S.E. Idaho with my husband Bruce and
two of our three young adult children. Bruce and I, achieved a nice milestone by celebrated our 25th
wedding anniversary this past June! During our marriage we have lived throughout the Northwest, and
both being originally from the Seattle and Portland areas, are very happy to be back on the west side of
the mountains!  My experience working in religious ed. began in Montana as a catechist and after we
moved to Idaho, spent 4 years as the Religious Education Coordinator for our parish there.
As I take on the new role of R.E. Coordinator in this community, it is my intention to apply the
experiences and learnings God has blessed me with thus far to the spiritual and religious development of
our parish children here in Eureka. I pray the Holy Spirit will lead this program as well as grace your
children this upcoming year as they grow in their Catholic faith and in the love of our Lord.
Your prayers are always welcome and truly needed.
  Peace in Christ,
  Melanie Broswick
